Tropical Evergreen Forests are also known as tropical rainforests. These forests are restricted to heavy rainfall areas of the Western Ghats and the island groups of Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar, upper parts of Assam and Tamil Nadu coast.

• They are at their best in areas having more than 200 cm of rainfall with a short dry season.
• The trees reach great heights up to 60 metres or even above.
• Since the region is warm and wet throughout the year, it has a luxuriant vegetation of all kinds.
• Commercially important trees of this forest are ebony, mahogany, rosewood, rubber and cinchona.

उष्णकटिबंधीय सदाबहार वन (Tropical Evergreen Forests) को उष्णकटिबंधीय वर्षावन (tropical rainforests) के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। ये वन पश्चिमी घाट और लक्षद्वीप, अंडमान और निकोबार के द्वीप समूहों, असम के ऊपरी हिस्सों और तमिलनाडु तट के भारी वर्षा वाले क्षेत्रों तक सीमित हैं।

• ये उन क्षेत्रों में सबसे अच्छे होते हैं जहाँ 200 सेमी से अधिक वर्षा होती है और सूखा मौसम कम समय के लिए होता है।
• यहाँ के पेड़ 60 मीटर या उससे भी अधिक ऊँचाई तक पहुँचते हैं।
• चूंकि यह क्षेत्र साल भर गर्म और आर्द्र रहता है, इसलिए यहाँ सभी प्रकार की वनस्पतियां प्रचुर मात्रा में पाई जाती हैं।
• इस जंगल के व्यावसायिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण पेड़ आबनूस (ebony), महोगनी (mahogany), शीशम (rosewood), रबर और सिनकोना हैं।
